Hong Kong at a crossroads

Stella Perrett shines a light on the BNO visa debacle which could permanently sour relations between the UK and China.

From Sunday, the United Kingdom will welcome any of the up to 300,000 British National Overseas (BNO) passport holders currently living in Hong Kong…

China has already said they “will not recognise” the BNO as a legitimate document and called the UK visa scheme a violation of sovereignty and gross interference in its internal affairs.

So does this mean anyone who tries to travel will be arrested at the airport? And just how many will take up the opportunity to flee to the United Kingdom or will they remain in Hong Kong to fight for greater autonomy from China? The eyes of the world are watching.
